The Department of Basic Composition at Utah Valley State College (soon
to be Utah Valley University) invites applicants for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Basic Writing to begin August 2008.
Successful applicants will effectively teach Basic Writing courses,
engage in scholarly activity, and participate in departmental and campus
service, including department leadership. The successful candidate will
join a small, dynamic department of faculty who are committed to social
and situated approaches to literacy instruction and engaged in
innovative, student-centered pedagogy, including portfolio-based
curriculum and a blend of face-to-face and on-line learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (ABDs considered) from a regionally accredited
institution in Composition & Rhetoric, English, or a closely-related
field and experience teaching Basic Writing in a higher education
setting is preferred. Candidates with M.A./M.S. degrees in Composition &
Rhetoric, English or closely-related field with extensive experience
teaching Basic Writing in a higher education setting will also be
considered.
